POSITION SUMMARY:

Market Leader’s System Administrator position is responsible for the infrastructure, stability and maintenance of servers and networks and ensuring the smooth operation of the processes supporting these efforts.  This position also actively participates with the rest of the Technology team on key initiatives to improve the support and services of our production and non-production environments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage all aspects of the production and non-production environments.

  • Define, refine, and document processes used for updating environments while maintaining stability.

  • Establish and report measurable standards for performance, availability, and maintainability of all pre-production environments.

  • Identify, research, evaluate and recommend related tools and emerging technologies.

  • Partner and train Program teams to ensure they have environments required to support parallel projects and knowledge on how to use them.

  • Review design concepts and present, where required, to management options and recommendations based on needs analysis.

  • Maintain proper security levels to protect the network from internal and external events.

  • Provide technical support to project teams on operational and networking requirements with regards to possible approaches, industry standards and best industry practices.

  • Maintain problem and change management processes in order to provide fast response to unexpected problems and be proactive with solutions, which avoid potential problems

  • Provide technical input to the rest of the technology team on key initiatives to improve the support and services of the pre-production environments.

  • Other projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years experience working with XML, SQL Server and Web Servers (IIS, Netscape/iPlanet, Apache)

  • Strong experience with Microsoft Operating Systems (2008, 2003, Windows 7, Vista, Windows XP)

  • Strong experience with Active Directory and related technologies (Group Policy, DNS, LDAP, Kerberos)

  • Familiar with Linux and/or other Unix based operating systems (CentOS/RedHat preferred).

  • Experience with server virtualization technologies (e.g. VMWare, Hyper-V, Xen, etc.)

  • Experience working with Storage Area Networks preferred (e.g. EMC, NetApp, etc.)

  • Microsoft Server products (Exchange, OCS, Sharepoint, Project Server, BizTalk, etc)

  • Application Servers (Weblogic, Websphere, ASP/.NET).

  • Network Design and Implementation best practices (e.g. load-balancers, firewalls, switching and routing technologies)

  • Exposure to SDLC.

  • Experience with Systems Management desired (SMS, System Center, Nagios, SNMP, WMI, etc.)

  • Procedures and practices (including change-control, audit, regulatory policies, etc.)

  • eBusiness enabling technologies (such as Single Sign On, Content Management, etc.)

  • Database and  Application Servers support: Troubleshooting, repair, installs, upgrades, etc.

  • Network & Internet support: Troubleshooting, upgrades, etc.

  • Network utilities (i.e. Network Monitor, Wireshark, netstat)

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES & REQUIREMENTS

  • Regularly uses PC and phone equipment.

  • Regularly communicates with employees and others as needed.

  • Depending on project needs, evening and weekend work may be required at times.

  • Participation in on-call rotation required.

  • Ability to lift and maneuver materials weighing up to 50 lbs., including bending.
